Dec. 31-Jan. 6, 2019 La Mirada Crime Summary

Don’t become a victim of vehicle burglary

Vehicle burglaries are crimes of opportunity, but taking simple steps will help reduce the chance of becoming a victim. It only takes a few seconds to shatter the window and take your property.

Out of Sight, Out of Crime

Many vehicle burglaries are a result of items that are left in plain sight in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. Never leave valuables such as purses, wallets, GPS devices, cell phones, laptops, or anything else of value in plain view in your vehicle. Take the items with you when possible.

Security & Your Peace of Mind

Always make sure to properly secure your vehicle windows and door locks, even when parking at your own residence. If you have an anti-theft system, be sure to always arm it.

Take precautions when shopping

If you must store valuables in your vehicle, lock them in your trunk and keep them in a non-visible place. Park in well-lit areas and remain alert in parking lots. Scan the area surrounding your vehicle both when you park and when you return to your vehicle.

Contact the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station to report suspicious activity at (562) 902-2960. Obtain a description of the person, a vehicle description, and vehicle license plate if possible.
