La Mirada Crime Summary Nov. 17 – Nov. 23, 2014

CHP, Local Authorities Step Up Holiday Enforcement
The Thanksgiving holiday is a Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and local agencies. The reporting period begins Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Nov. 30, at 11:59 p.m. The Thanksgiving MEP also coincides with NHTSA’s annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Here are some tips to help you arrive safely to your destination:

• Driving is a complex task, requiring a motorist’s full attention. Anything that diverts the driver’s eyes or attention from the roadway, even for 1-2 seconds, could result in tragedy. Stay off your phone!
• Don’t drink and drive: Driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08% or more is illegal, but even with a lower BAC a driver may be a hazard and taken to jail.
