hop space is scheduled to begin in the near future.  Overall private investment in the project is approximately $14 million.

Some $400,000 in improvements are underway in the 1.5acre commercial center located at the southeast corner of Valley View Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue.  New signage and a façade upgrade are being done to the building.  A Shell gas station recently opened for business on the same corner adjacent to Mr. V’s restaurant.

Plans are also advancing for improvements to another shopping center located on the northeast corner of Valley View Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue.  A 10,000-square-foot building in the center will receive new signage and a façade upgrade.

Improvements to private properties in La Mirada reflect a positive trend in the community following the national recession.  Assessed valuation of private properties in La Mirada passed the $5 billion mark during the past year, according to the Los Angeles County Assessor’s office.

The City of La Mirada’s “Shop, See, Splash!” campaign has been credited with helping to stimulate more than $1.1 million in local sales in recent years.  The program promotes shopping in La Mirada to keep local stores in business, return sales tax to the community, and reduce blight in shopping centers.

During each of the past five years, the City of La Mirada has been named a finalist for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s “Most Business Friendly City” Award.  No other community has been selected as a finalist in five consecutive years.
