The 8U silver team began the tournament by playing Imperial Valley on Friday evening.  The girls showed their power by starting the game off with 4 runs scored by Hannah Hernandez, Grace Archuleta, Kara Sands, Allison Conrad, and a power homerun by Salem Flores.  Alexa Sams followed Flores’ lead and hit a homerun in the 2nd inning followed by additional runs scored by Alyssa Liskey, and Marissa Leon.  Hitters Archuleta, Sands, and Conrad continued the hitting streak with scoring three additional runs.  8U silver held Imperial Valley at zero resulting in a shut out score of 11-0.

Saturday the LM 8U team powered through two shut out games against San Marcos: final score 5-0 and Valley Center: final score 6-0.  Liskey started the game off against San Marcos with her strong pitching holding the opponent to no runs.  Sands came in and continued to hold San Marcos at no runs with some help from her defense.  Hernandez made an awesome throw from third to first in the 4th inning.  LMGSA 8U Silver moved on to play Valley Center and carry on their shut out streak.  The scored was at 0-0 until Sams scored in the 2nd inning putting LM on the board.  Archuleta, Conrad, Flores, Sams, and Avrie Padilla added runs to LM’s score in the 3rd inning.  During the game 8U Silver team showed their defensive skills with Liskey assisting in 4 outs and Natalie Craig making 2 awesome plays at 2nd base.
The 8U Silver team moved on to play Norco in the semi-championship game on Sunday, Father’s Day.  The girls were pumped from their success in the tournament thus far and were ready to show their dads what they could do.  Flores struck out 3 batters in the first inning giving our girls a strong start.  The team followed this with a powerful offensive inning scoring 4 runs made by Flores, Liskey, Leon, and Shelby Robinson. Norco came back and scored the first run of the tournament against LM in the bottom of the 2nd inning.  This fueled determination in LM Silver team resulting in Flores earning 2 RBIs and Sams driving in another RBI.  The inning was highlighted with bases clearing triple by Robinson. 8U silver held Norco with Flores striking out the first two batters and Craig ending the game with an awesome pop fly catch at 2nd base.  The Final Score was 9-1 sending LMGSA 8U Silver into the championships.
