LA MIRADA (CNS) – A La Mirada tire business worker was killed today when a jack stand collapsed under a fork lift that was having its tires changed.
Firefighters responded just after 8 a. m. to a report of a person in cardiac arrest in the 16900 block of Valley View Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, a fire inspector said. According to Paola Laverde of Cal/OSHA, the employee was changing tires of a forklift at 24 Hour Tire Sales and one of the jack stands collapsed, causing the forklift to fall on the employee.
The gender and age of the worker were not immediately available.
