Norwalk plans “All-Hazard Mitigation Plan”

By Randy Economy

The City of Norwalk and several local entities are working in tandem to prepare for what is being called a “Local All-Hazard Mitigation Plan.”

According to city officials, the purpose of the plan is to “identify and assess our community’s disaster risks”  and to determine “how to best minimize against those risks.”

Upon completion, the plan will be presented to the City of Norwalk City Council for adoption and then submitted to the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for review and approval.

Residents, business owners, and even visitors to the Keystone City are being asked to participate in the “fill-in survey questionnaire.”

Norwalk city officials are hoping that the information gathered will “help us better understand” hazard concerns and to identify area policies and projects that can help lessen the impact of future hazard events.

City officials tout that the survey “should take less than 5 minutes to complete” and is completely anonymous.
