Wiener Dog Nationals At Los Alamitos Race Course Looking For “Fast” Four-Legged Speedsters

weinerdogracingLos Alamitos Race Course is looking for a few good wiener dogs to participate in the 18th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013.

 

The event features 50-yard dashes for dachshunds with proceeds benefiting the Seal Beach Animal Care Center. The Care Center is a non-profit group dedicated to finding home for stray animals in the Orange County area.

 

Los Alamitos Race Course is inviting dachshund owners to enter their prized pet into this year’s  doxie races. The winning dachshund will be crowned the Fastest Wiener in the West and will win $1,000 in cash prizes, a trophy and a doghouse in the shape of a Wienerschnitzel restaurant. The event annually draws a crowd of over 10,000 and it’s among the most popular nights of racing at the Cypress racing oval. There is no wagering on the dachshund races and no experience is necessary to enter.
To enter, please send a letter via mail or e-mail explaining why your dachshund should be in the Wiener Nationals. A photo of the dachshund should be included. Letters can be sent to: Los Alamitos Race Course Pup-blicity Department at 4961 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos, 90720. E-mails can be sent to larace@losalamitos.com. Entries must be received by Monday, June 3, 2013. The participants will be selected based on the creativity of their entries.
