A 20 year old Hispanic male has been gunned down in Huntington Park on Friday and law enforcement officials are turning to the media and local community residents for tips that can help arrest the person or persons responsible.
Huntington Park Police responded to 911 calls of shots fired Friday afternoon and found one shooting victim down in the 5900 block of Fishburn Ave. The location of the shooting is just south of Slauson Ave and the border with the city of Maywood.
“On Friday, April 11th, 2014, at approximately 1:20 PM, the police department received 911 calls of a shooting with a reported gunshot victim. Responding officers located the victim with multiple gunshot wounds laying on the sidewalk in that area. The victim was treated by paramedics and transported to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The victim is a 20-year-old male Hispanic and resident of Bell,” a spokesperson for the Huntington Park Police Department said in a statement on Saturday.
Huntington Park Police officers secured the crime scene and detectives were called to respond. The initial information suggests this shooting may be gang-related. There are no suspects currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
