Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department will be holding an “active shooter drill” at Richard Gahr High School on Tuesday, April 22, located at 11111 Artesia Boulevard, in the City of Cerritos.
The event will involve administrators, teachers, students, and parents from Gahr High School. The event will begin at around 9 a.m.
Officials at the Cerritos Sheriff’s Department are warning local residents in advance about the training drill. Gahr High School was used last year to stage a similar training exercise.
In addition, Cerritos Station Volunteers and members of the Cerritos Station Clergy Council will participate.
The drill will be closed to the public.
“This training will simulate a shooting at the high school where deputies and the fire personnel will respond and take simulated action. The training will incorporate gunfire and explosions. There will also be simulated injuries to role players at the school,” said a spokesperson for the Cerritos Sheriff’s Department.
