Downey Assault Suspect Arrested

On May 11, 2015, at around 4:28 p.m., Downey Police Officers responded to a parking lot in the 10000 block of Lakewood Blvd. in regards to an assault. When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds. The victim had been approached by a male Hispanic suspect who demanded the victim’s car keys and wallet. When the victim refused, the suspect stabbed and slashed the victim with a box cutter. The suspect had fled the location prior to police arrival.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. The victim has since been released and is recovering from his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, Downey Police Detectives were able to identify the suspect responsible for the stabbing.

On May 20th, at around 3:00 p.m., Detectives located the suspect in Norwalk and arrested him without incident.

The suspect is Tommy Obregon, 39 years old, of Pico Rivera.

The suspect will be booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
