Register now for youth sports leagues offered by the City of La Mirada. Recreational youth sports offered for the winter season include Youth Basketball and Youth Indoor Soccer (Futsal). Children ages 5 to 17 are invited to participate.
La Mirada’s Youth Basketball League is non-competitive and designed for recreational play. Coaches teach the fundamentals of the sport and emphasize teamwork, passing, and dribbling. Youth Basketball League games are played at the La Mirada Community Gymnasium. The league cost is $65, and includes one practice during the week and one game on the weekend.
The City’s popular Youth Futsal League is back for the winter season. This league is an excellent way for players to keep up their skills after the outdoor season. Coaches teach the fundamentals with emphasis on teamwork, passing, and dribbling. The league cost is $65 and games are played on Saturdays at the La Mirada Community Gymnasium.
“These leagues help players learn the fundamentals of the sport while socializing, having fun, and getting exercise,” says Community Services Coordinator Josh Gire.
Players are guaranteed to play a total of eight games, and each player receives a medal and team jersey. Registration ends on December 14. Early sign up is encouraged as space is limited. For more information or to sign up, visit www.cityoflamirada.org or call (562) 943-7277.
