September is National Preparedness Month
The City of La Mirada will join thousands of communities across the Country in recognizing the month of September as National Preparedness Month. National Preparedness Month focuses on turning awareness into action by encouraging communities to plan for emergencies and disasters of all types.
Preparing can start with three important steps:
- Get an emergency supply kit.
- Make a plan for what to do in an emergency.
- Be informed about emergencies that could happen in your community, and identify sources of information in your community that will be helpful before, during and after an emergency.
Throughout the month of September, the La Mirada e-Watch newsletter will feature weekly tips and resources to help you prepare.

Robbery
- A strong-arm robbery occurred during the afternoon hours on the 15000 block of La Capelle Rd. A cell phone was stolen. No one was injured during incident.
Residential Burglary
- A burglary was reported on the 15700 block of Hillgate Dr. The exact loss has not been determined.
Other Structure Burglary
- Cash was stolen from a locker on the 13300 block of Beach Blvd.
Vehicle Burglary
- A guitar was stolen during a window-smash burglary during the evening hours on the 16100 block of Rosecrans Ave.
- A daytime burglary occurred on the 16100 block of Rosecrans Ave. A car stereo was stolen.
- A backpack, wallet and checkbook were reported stolen during a nighttime window-smash burglary on the 14300 block of Firestone Blvd.
- Various items were reported stolen on the 14400 block of Firestone. The exact loss has not been determined.
- A RV was broken into sometime overnight on the 14900 block of Firestone Blvd.
Grand Theft
- Various items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 13300 block of Sandown Ct. The exact loss has not been determined.
- Several canopies and chairs were reported stolen during a late night theft on the 14600 block of Alondra Blvd. Two suspects were arrested in connection to incident.
- A tailgate was stolen on the 15900 block of Formby Dr.
Grand Theft Vehicle
- A truck was reported stolen on the 14300 block of Firestone Blvd. The vehicle as later recovered by Norwalk Sheriff’s Station.
- A sedan was reported stolen on the 14900 block of Crosswood Rd.
