LA MIRADA MEALS ON WHEELS HITS 43 YEARS

This year, Meals on Wheels of La Mirada will be celebrating its 43rd anniversary.  Since 1975, it has served 2,000 residents and delivered over 611,000 meals.

Next month, Meals on Wheels of La Mirada will be celebrating its 43rd anniversary serving homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living in the City of La Mirada.  Since April 1975, this non-profit organization has served 2,000 residents and delivered over 611,000 meals.

The organization prides itself on having many dedicated volunteers who help deliver the meals.  Volunteers deliver approximately 1,565 meals per month, which mainly are delivered to seniors and disabled residents.  Volunteers also visit with clients to check on their well-being while delivering the meals.  The cost for one meal is $5 per day, or $9 per day for two meals. Meals are prepared and packaged by Lascari’s Restaurant.

“For the last 43 years, with the support of our community, we have been able to ensure our homebound seniors and disabled neighbors are taken care of in mind, body, and spirit,” says Meals on Wheels President Debbie Garza. “We are incredibly proud of the impact this program has made on the lives of our homebound neighbors.”
