Woman accused of trying to kidnap 2 young children in Norwalk

(EAST BAY TIMES) A woman snatched a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old from a Norwalk park Wednesday, Dec. 2., but the mother was able to get her children back, authorities said.

The suspect allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Tenaya Brown.

It happened shortly before 1:26 p.m.

A woman was at Robert White Park, 12120 Hoxie Ave., with her children when the suspect grabbed the baby, the toddler and a cell phone, Brown said.

The suspect started running. The mother chased after her, took her children back and called 911, Brown said.

The suspect was still at the park when deputies arrived. They detained the woman who began fighting with deputies, Brown said.

Deputies arrested a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of kidnapping, resisting arrest and vandalism. She was being held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

The suspect has a Friday court appearance at Bellflower Superior Court.
