LA MIRADA — The City of La Mirada has launched a redesigned city website while also announcing a series of upcoming summer events, housing assistance programs, and community initiatives as residents head into the busy summer season.

City officials said the newly redesigned website, available at LaMirada.gov, features improved navigation, updated accessibility tools, full-site translation capabilities, and an AI-powered chatbot designed to help residents quickly locate city information and services.

According to the city, residents and businesses can now more easily access information related to community programs, public safety, business services, city news, and municipal resources through the updated platform.

The city also announced its annual Memorial Day Celebration will take place Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at the Civic Center Plaza located at 13700 La Mirada Blvd.

The ceremony will honor military veterans and members of America’s Armed Forces with guest speakers, special presentations, tributes to fallen soldiers, and a wreath placing ceremony.

The Memorial Day event is being presented by the La Mirada Veterans Coordinating Council, VFW Post 9148, and the City of La Mirada.

Residents seeking additional information may contact VFW Post 9148 at (562) 903-1182 or the City of La Mirada at (562) 943-7277.

The city is also encouraging residents to prepare for summer activities at Buccaneer Bay waterpark, where discounted season passes are currently available for a limited time.

General season passes are priced at $70, while junior and senior passes are available for $65.

Pass holders will also receive access to a special preview event scheduled for May 16 ahead of Buccaneer Bay’s public opening during Memorial Day weekend. Daily operations begin May 30.

Season passes may be purchased at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center or online at splashlamirada.com.

One of the city’s largest upcoming events will be a special America’s 250th anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 6, beginning at 6 p.m. at the La Mirada Civic Center Plaza.

The patriotic celebration will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and will feature food vendors, live music, a performance by the La Mirada Symphony, and a large drone show over Biola University’s athletic fields.

Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and gather around the Civic Center lawn and City Hall Fountain Plaza for prime drone show viewing.

City officials noted that La Mirada Boulevard between Rosecrans Avenue and Imperial Highway will be closed from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. during the drone show event.

La Mirada residents experiencing housing-related emergencies may also qualify for rental assistance and homelessness prevention programs through partnerships coordinated by the Gateway Cities Council of Governments.

According to the city, Helpline Youth Counseling offers assistance programs that may include past-due rent payments, short-term rental assistance, security deposits, utility assistance, and case management services for eligible residents.

Residents seeking housing assistance information are encouraged to visit [www.hycinc.org](http://www.hycinc.org) or call (213) 226-0969.

The city also announced La Mirada has been named a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, recognizing the city’s continued commitment to urban forestry, tree maintenance, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood beautification efforts.

City officials said the designation recognizes La Mirada’s ongoing investment in preserving and expanding the community’s tree canopy through strategic planting, maintenance programs, and environmental education initiatives.
