Red Ribbon Rallies Promote Positive Choices

The Red Ribbon Campaign drug prevention program reaches millions of young people each year. Red Ribbon Rallies will be held at La Mirada’s elementary and middle schools during Red Ribbon Week, October 26 through 31.

The rallies promote awareness of the negative effects of drug use and discourage drug use among students. Special speakers will include Safety Education Officer Mary Cipres, Deputy Probation Officer Darryl Harris and Deputy District Attorney Cristine Albanese. Deputy McGruff, the crime-fighting dog, will lead students in songs and cheers to promote a healthy lifestyle.

“Through these rallies, we aim to show students the harmful effects of drug use, and the positive opportunities they will have in life when they pledge to stay drug free,” says Safety Education Officer Mary Cipres.
