Mark Valle, 15, identified as Norwalk shooting victim; N-LM Superintendent calls death “gut wrenching”

Norwalk teenager Mark Anthony Valle, 15, has succumbed from gunshot wounds he suffered last Wednesday in what law enforcement officials are classifying a “possible gang-related incident.”
He was shot multiple times while he was at a location near a popular hamburger stand at the 11900 block of Firestone Boulevard in Norwalk last Wednesday when he was approached by two male suspects, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials.
Valle collapsed, and was transferred to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Dr. Ruth Perez, Superintendent of Schools for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that Valle was a past freshman at John Glenn High School and was in the process of enrolling into nearby Santa Fe High School. Perez also confirmed that Valle also attended Waite Middle School and Chavez Elementary School in Norwalk.
Valle’s death marks the 24th person to be murdered within a two-square mile from the location during the past five years.
Perez said that the death of Valle is “gut wrenching” and that she has been in contact with Valle’s family members during the past few days. “We are in a state of shock, and this is happening far too many times here in our community,” Perez said.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper will continue to have updates throughout the week.
Anyone with information about the shooting may contact the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
