March 2-8, 2020 La Mirada Crime Summary

Beware of Scams
To the average resident, it can be difficult to spot a con artist. They can invade your home by telephone and mail, advertise in well-known newspapers and magazines, or show up at your front door.
The La Mirada Public Safety Team encourages residents to become familiar with various scams such as Lottery or Sweepstake scams, IRS scams, Relatives in Distress scams to name a few. Everyone should be suspicious of ads, emails, or calls promising quick cash or claiming you owe money. You should not provide any personal information during these inquiries.
If you feel you have been the victim of fraudulent activity, contact the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station at (562) 902-2960. The FBI and its partners encourage you to also report it to the Internet Crime Complain Center.
