A wild car chase on Wednesday ended with two vehicles landing on top of one and other in Norwalk, and millions of television news viewers from Southern California witnessing the violent aftermath.

Shortly before 5:00 P.M. deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the City of Norwalk. A check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed it was involved in an armed carjacking on August 5, 2012 in Cerritos.

The driver of the suspicious vehicle led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit, which ended when the suspect became involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Elaine Avenue, Norwalk. There were no significant injuries as a result of the traffic collision.

The suspect was identified as Ricky Navarro Ramirez, a 23-year-old resident of Norwalk. Ramirez is believed to be involved in several armed carjackings which occurred over the past several weeks in the areas of Artesia, Cerritos and Norwalk.

Ramirez was arrested for several felony charges including Vehicle Theft, Receiving Stolen Property and Evading. He was booked at the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The crash was covered by media outlets throughout Southern California live, including NBC LA who had Journalist Alex Calder covering the incident in the stations news helicopter overhead.
