Several Detained After Officer Involved Shooting Takes Place on Downey Avenue

Several people were detained in Downey early Tuesday morning after an officer involved shooting took place.

According to Lieutenant Mark McDaniel of the Downey Police Department, officers had responded to the 12300 block of Downey Avenue after they received a call that a suspect was “brandishing a weapon.”

When Downey officers arrived at the scene, McDaniel confirmed that “an officer involved shooting occurred.” Hews Media Group-Community Newspapers were told that no one was hit or injured during the incident and several subjects were detained for further investigation.

Detectives from the Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit responded and were conducting an investigation.
