Long time La Mirada resident Violet Lesko was recognized by the La Mirada City Council for her 90th birthday at the March 13 City Council meeting.
La Mirada resident Violet Lesko was recognized for recently celebrating her 90th birthday by the La Mirada City Council as part of the City’s birthday recognition program.
Violet was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1928. She has always had a passion for singing and spent most of her life singing at various venues. Over the years, Violet has shared her gift of singing for groups such as church choirs, Norwalk and Buena Park Chorus, and at weddings, funerals, and sport events. She also had the opportunity to sing with Mr. B’s Honeys choral group, where she traveled to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, DC to perform for veterans.
In 1953, Ms. Lesko married John, a Korean War veteran. They moved to La Mirada in 1970 and have resided over 48 years. When Violet is not singing, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, traveling, and playing bingo. She also serves as the La Mirada Gadabouts Treasurer.
She has three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
