CELEBRATE THE SUMMER IN LA MIRADA
June 20 marked the first day of summer and we are ready! Whether racing down Splash’s new six-lane mat-rider slide or spending a summer evening at a Concert Under the Stars event, family activities are available for everyone. I encourage you to get out, mingle with friends, and participate in one of the many programs that the City of La Mirada offers.
Bring your lawn chairs, dancing shoes, and a healthy appetite for the return of our signature Concerts Under the Stars series beginning on Thursday, July 8, at La Mirada Regional Park from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The concert series will feature seven genres of music, including the ’80s, country, Latin, among others. Night Market vendors will be open beginning at 5 p.m., and music begins at 6:30 p.m. A complete list of the scheduled entertainment is available on the City’s website at cityoflamirada.org. I invite all of you to join me for great music, dancing, and delicious food!
This year’s Stroll in the Park event will be held Thursday, July 29, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Come enjoy an evening filled with live entertainment in beautiful Creek Park. Revel in a trio of bands as you stroll through the park, or choose your favorite band, sit back, relax, and enjoy the music!
The days when we can finally don our swimsuits, sunblock, and flip-flops to unwind and relax with the whole family are back. Buccaneer Bay is now open daily to provide fun and relief from hot summer days! Come experience the adrenaline of body surfing down the waterpark’s new six-lane mat-rider slide, the thrill of zigzagging swiftly down the two new aquatube slides, or the tranquility of just flowing through a slow-moving lazy river.
I personally tested out the 300-foot long water slide during a grand opening and lived to tell about it (LOL). Wow, it was exhilarating! The waterpark also features three 25-feet tall water slides, a children’s play structure, and spray pad areas. Purchase a season pass and enjoy the park all summer long!
Our popular Summer Day Camp program has returned to Neff Park Monday through Friday through August 6. Day Camp offers a variety of fun activities every week for children ages 6 to 12. Additionally, Gardenhill, Frontier, and Windermere Parks will have staff on-site from 12 to 4 p.m. to provide children with a variety of recreation activities!
Please visit our website at cityoflamirada.org for more information on these events. On behalf of the City of La Mirada, I look forward to seeing you during a summer filled with family-friendly activities!
Sincerely,
Ed Eng
