La Mirada Adopts $54 Million Budget, Projects $4.56 Million Surplus

The La Mirada City Council has adopted its budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, approving a spending plan that projects a $4.56 million surplus.

Approved at the June 24 council meeting, the $53.95 million General Fund budget includes $49.39 million in expenditures and reflects the City’s current revenue outlook.

Public safety takes up the largest share of the budget, with over $13 million allocated to law enforcement, traffic enforcement, emergency preparedness, and related volunteer programs.

The City’s Public Works Department will receive over $9 million to maintain local streets, parks, public buildings, and sidewalks. An additional $27.44 million in capital improvement funds is earmarked for several infrastructure projects, including pavement rehab work on Telegraph Road and Valley View Avenue, a turf renovation at Behringer Park, and upgrades to traffic signals and medians.

Other areas covered by the budget include Community Development, Administration, and various Community Services programs such as recreation, youth and senior services, and cultural programming, including the upcoming season at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.
