Northern California Earthquake Triggers Alerts Across Region

LCCN Staff Report

A strong earthquake struck Northern California on Wednesday morning, shaking communities in Mendocino County and triggering earthquake alerts across a wide area of the state.

According to preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred near Redwood Valley and was felt in surrounding communities, including Willits and Ukiah.

Residents reported receiving earthquake warnings on their mobile devices and feeling moderate to strong shaking. Officials said there was no tsunami threat associated with the earthquake.

As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities had not reported any major injuries or widespread structural damage. Crews continued to assess infrastructure and monitor for aftershocks.

California experiences thousands of earthquakes each year, though only a small percentage cause significant damage.
