LM Sheriff’s Deputies Receive Meritorious Service Award

Five Deputy Sheriff’s from La Mirada’s Public Safety Team were invited to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) headquarters last week where they received the Meritorious Service Award from Sheriff Lee Baca.

The Deputies are members of La Mirada’s Special Assignment Officer (SAO) Team, which has played a significant role in keeping La Mirada one of the safest cities in Los Angeles County.

During the past few years the SAO Team has coordinated and conducted numerous probation and parole searches throughout the City, leading to felony arrests and other charges against offenders.  These proactive enforcement efforts were critical to stopping a rise in gang activity in early 2012.

The SAO Team also played a key role in targeting suspected burglars after a series of residential burglaries in March.  Following the burglaries, the Team initiated a burglary suppression detail in the area that led to the arrest of two suspects who later confessed to the burglaries and were convicted.

Meritorious Service Award Recipients:

Sergeant Brian Neel

Deputy James Potts

Deputy Ryan Clinkingbeard

Deputy Carlos Ortega

Deputy Scott Reynal
