Central Basin Board Directors Select Kevin Hunt to Serve as Interim General Manager

Mr. Hunt is a highly regarded and respected water industry professional with over 40 years of experience.

Commerce, CA – The Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors has selected Mr. Kevin Hunt to serve as the District’s Interim General Manager. Mr. Hunt is a registered civil engineer and brings over 40 years of distinguished professional experience, including having served as General Manager for the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC).

The vote was 5-0.

“Mr. Hunt is well-respected, accomplished professional in the water sector,” said Central Basin Board President Robert Apodaca. “The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Hunt and utilizing his background and leadership skills to move the District forward.”

During his nine-year tenure at MWDOC, Mr. Hunt was responsible for representing 28 water retailers, serving 2.3 million constituents. His major accomplishments include: maintaining MWDOC’s financial health with zero losses, developing award winning water use efficiency programs, leading local water resources development, and securing grant funding of $3.5 to $5 million annually.

Prior to his service in MWDOC, Mr. Hunt served as Group Leader for Water and Natural Resources, and Transportation and Construction Management at Psomas, a top-ranked engineering firm. As Group Leader, Mr. Hunt was responsible for strategic and business planning; staff recruitment, development and retention; business units’ profit and loss; and the technical execution of projects. Mr. Hunt is currently a partner for Hunt Thornton Resources Strategies, LLC.

Mr. Hunt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in New York and completed Graduate Studies in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in Malibu.

In addition, Central Basin provides the region with recycled water for municipal, commercial and industrial uses.
