In this era of technical geniuses, a local 19-year old just might be on his way to becoming the next “Bill Gates” or “Warren Buffet.”
For Jeet Banerjee, the road to business superstardom, not to mention a possible untold fortune is beginning on the streets of his childhood neighborhood in La Mirada.
Banerjee, in an interview with Hews Media Group, said that he has already managed to sell an internet based company, launch 3 successful startups, multiple mobile applications, 2 eBooks, and create his own digital consulting firm all while attending part-time classes at California State University at Fullerton.
“I sold the first business I invented at age 17 and made a profit. I thought, this way too much fun,” Banerjee said. Around February of this year, Jeet was able to sell ‘JB Media Force’ where he oversaw 15 employees virtually.
“I really don’t want to have to attend college, but I am doing so to keep my mom and dad happy,” Banerjee said. A graduate of nearby Sunny Hills High School, Banerjee said he wasn’t the smartest kid in the class, “I was just an average student who couldn’t wait to get high school out-of-the-way.”
Banerjee is the first to tell you that he is more “street smart” and “real world wise” and appears to be well beyond his 19 year age.
“I have a passion for creating things. I do what I’m good at and find others to fill in the missing pieces. I’ve got developers in India, marketing guys on the East Coast, and mentors up north.” says Banerjee. His current companies include Statfuse what he calls a “revolutionary tool allowing students to calculate chances of admission and making the transition from high school to college easy.”
Another one of his ventures is called “Vintelli” that targets profit margins for website while “keeping the costs really low.”
When asked about why he has created so many startups at such a young age, Jeet said, “I never believed in putting all my eggs in one basket. I love creating startups that help others solve a problem and decided to implement them all. If I can help many people at once, I’d rather do that then take it one by one.”
In spite of his busy schedule Banerjee is a “huge sports fan,” and calls himself a “devoted Lakers fan.” “In my free time, spend a lot of time hanging out with my girlfriend and friends.”
“I have big plans for entrepreneurship. I want to start off in the tech side and build a collaboration of different innovations through technology. From there, I actually want to move into different industries by the age of 24-25, create a restaurant franchise, possibly build a hotel in Las Vegas, like a Taj Mahal themed hotel, that is the only thing missing there.”
Banerjee also said he was motivated to becoming an entrepreneur because his parents stopped giving him money to go hang out with friends.
“At the age of 15, I got a job working at my Dad’s office picking up phone calls, doing invoices, and I hated that job so much, but was too afraid to quit until I turned 17. I finally said ‘screw it’ and quit. It took me a few months until I came up with the idea of JB Media Force,” Banerjee said.
Along with this myriad of products, he wrote and published his first eBook teaching others about the importance of SEO at the age of 17. Today, his second eBook “The Pursuit of Passion”, which teaches others how to turn hobbies into successful businesses, just hit stores.
If this wasn’t enough work for one person, Banerjee also speaks at conferences around the nation and offers digital consulting to bigger businesses.
‘I have already learned how to work smarter, not harder,” he said. “I found a way to implement all his ideas by utilizing a variety of different resources. Age is truly just a number.”
