Jeff Hobbs, the Public Information Officer for the City of Norwalk has spent the past three days in a psychiatric facility in Anaheim, Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper has confirmed.
Hobbs, who has been with the City of Norwalk for the past 18 months, was committed three days ago to the Psychiatric Ward at Western Medical Center. Hobbs said he was taken to the facility “against his will following accusations from his wife.”
Hobbs said that he and his wife are in the process of getting a divorce and also filed a claim for adoption serving San Antonio since they have been “dealing with problems for quite some time.”
Hobbs contacted HMG-CN Publisher Brian Hews and Investigative Reporter Randy Economy throughout the day and into the evening on Thursday to confirm the details surrounding the situation. He said that he “wants the truth to be told, and wants this situation be made public as soon as possible.”
Hobbs said he was recently detained by three different law enforcement agencies on three different occasions by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Anaheim Police Department and the Westminster Police Department but that said he “was found to be fine and released on my own account.”
Hobbs also told HMG-CN that he has been relieved of his job this week by Norwalk City Manager Mike Egan and that he has spoken to him this week. Hobbs told the newspaper that he earns “roughly $100,000 per year” in his position as PIO for the City of Norwalk that is located 18 miles southeast of Downtown Los Angeles. The city has a population of around 110,000 residents.
Hobbs was recently featured in literally hundreds of media reports and interview just three months ago when what appeared to be a mountain lion was caught on a home video camera wandering in a residential neighborhood in Norwalk.
Hobbs and Egan have been long time professional allies during the past several years.
