Biola University will be hosting a large-scale, simulative active shooter training exercise for personnel from nine local law enforcement units, university campus safeties and one fire department on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
With university campus safety being of utmost importance due to the recent tragic events at Michigan State, this exercise could not have come at a more timely date. John Ojeisekhoba, chief of campus safety at Biola and President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, was recently quoted in the Los Angeles Times about the importance of schools conducting training with local and federal agencies.
“After Virginia Tech, the pendulum swung to … ‘It can actually happen to my campus. We’re not immune,’” he said.
The exercise begins at 9:30 a.m. at Biola University 13800 Biola Avenue, La Mirada, CA 90639.
